Description:

The cacao ceremony begins by bringing people into contact with cacao, splitting the beans and sharing the aroma, feeling the textures, laughing, talking, and being thankful for the ceremony that's to come. This allows us to go deeper into ourselves. Cacao is a ritual that invites us to feel, to give of ourselves, to trust, and to listen to what's happening in the present moment.
It's said that in ancient times a cup of cocoa was shared with each dear person who visited a home within the many Mayan communities. They consumed chocolate together in order to speak from their hearts, and to create lasting relationships with those they visited while forming deep ties that strengthened them as a people. When one speaks from the heart, one speaks from its truth, and from there it's possible to create a new reality.
When we serve cacao, we remember why we sit on the floor in a circle, a space where we're all at the same height, where we can all see and feel ourselves, and where we're each a part of the whole. The ceremony is always performed by those who come into it. Your energy, your love, and your dreams are manifest.
The intention of each, arriving at the cacao ceremony for the first time is to wonder. Consuming chocolate seems to be already a tradition that many remember, returning us to childhood, to sweetness, and in this ceremonial time when we all look for something to happen, the cacao allows us to begin in a space of tremendous peace, and without expectations.
Participants are invited to remember that we have always the space to receive what life gives us. We can prepare it to our liking. There is always a time, a space, a pause, where we can feel and remember that there's no hurry. There's no fixed goal to this existence and the only real guide is the heart.
