Description:

Chanting ceremony dedicated to Fudo Myo-ho, the Buddhist/ Shinto deity of fierce determination. Led by Koken and Kogetsu Blair Mackin, Lay Disciples of a Zen Center in Portland, Oregon.

Fudo is a "Wisdom King", destroyer of delusion and the protector of Buddhism. He is unmoved by carnal temptations. Despite his fearsome appearance, his role is to aid all beings by showing them the teachings of the Buddha, leading them into self-control.

This ceremony is based on one recited in Zen Temples, but with key parts translated into English. Ample time for questions and answers to follow.
