Description:

The sun’s just up, but not too hot yet. Come for an early hour of low impact exercise in the Longevity Stick Art (LSA) discipline of 12 low-impact exercises to build balance, flexibility, strength, mental focus, breathing capacity, and vitality, and open your points and channels. Bring your water and if possible, a stick that’s your height (3/4-1” bamboo, dowel, etc.) We’ll have some available.

Master Mai Bac Dao developed the Longevity Stick Art discipline while he was a prisoner of war of the North Vietnamese Army. He helped his fellow prisoners restore and maintain their health through LSA, and vowed that if he was ever freed, he would dedicate his life to spreading its benefits to the world, with the proviso that no future trainer could ever charge for the course. (Sounds like "gifting," eh?) He was freed, settled in Southern California, and started teaching classes of students and future teachers. Today, LSA is practiced widely in Vietnam, and there are dozens of classes weekly around So Cal. Also, LSA is spreading around the US, plus Canada, France, and Australia.

Master Dao passed away late last year at age 89, and I was privileged to attend his funeral, and his last birthday party, a few months before.
