“This Is Not The Camp You Are Looking For” is committed to participatory community building. To that end, we spent time considering the internal gifts our camp has to give, the needs of our community-of-Burners-at-large, the theme that will encompass all of us on the playa this year, and how to make people laugh.
Thus, we bring you: QUICKIE RITES OF PASSAGE.
The human experience, our shared experience on this Earth, is synonymous with change. The Rites of Passage that all peoples, modern and ancient, have concocted to navigate those changes, deserve a place on the playa. Our camp believes that Rites of Passage, while critically important to human development, need not be painful. Who needs the long, drawn-out pain of childbirth, adolescence or divorce? Go through it quickly and painlessly at our walk-up service for Quickie Rites of Passage! Want a wedding without the stress of planning? No problem! We’ll have you hitched in under 5 minutes. Terrible time as a teen? Painful journey through your mother's birth canal? Awful first day of Kindergarten? Tripped on your gown at your college graduation? Want to be divorced from your playa partner RIGHT NOW? No problem!!! We'll complete or re-enact all of these rites -- and more -- in five minutes or less!"
Join us at “This Is Not The Camp You Are Looking For” on Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. Quickie Rites of Passage will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Suitable costuming for all rites will be made available by our camp and we make absolutely no guarantee that they will be appropriate -- only amusing.
