Description:

A recent study observed participants trapped in an elevator in groups of 10 or 11 people. It turns out that the amount of time it takes a group of strangers to solve an unexpected problem is directly related to its diversity. Completely homogenous groups failed to get out of their elevator at all, while the most diverse groups escaped in a few minutes. This points to what we know intuitively to be true which is the cross fertilization of ideas, methodologies, and perspectives is essential to solving the biggest problems facing humanity today.
