The Black Rock City Philharmonic Orchestra seeks musicians to bring a performance of Beethoven's 7th Symphony to the playa. Crazy, you say? Impossible? No more unlikely than a deaf composer. -- To create the Black Rock City Philharmonic (a five-year project), we need: 1) section leaders in San Francisco, New York, Western Canada, and Eastern Canada; 2) a bank of Burn-ready instruments; 3) a network of veteran burners who are also skilled musicians; and 4) a road map to guide us to our performance, three or four years down the road. Musicians, enthusiasts, roadies, visionaries, and realists are all welcome to talk about how to bring Beethoven to the playa. Join us for the inaugural meeting of the Black Rock City Philharmonic, to be held at the Golden Cafe in the French Quarter.
