Description:

The Black Rock Observatory will be open from 11am to 4pm and from 7pm to 3am. During the day the BRO's focus will be on the sun. You are welcome to peer up into the sun and experience solar flares with your naked eyes. Then, using only the power of the sun just observed, the BRO staff will help you use a fresnel lens to melt metal or glass in an awesome display of solar powered destruction! The BRO is also the home of Dustiny, the Mars Rover Art Car! There will be asteroids and other intergalactic gizmos and gadgets to play with and connect with the galaxy in ways you never have before! At night our 20" Dobsonian will take center stage. Beginning at dusk, we will gather for telescope navigation workshops and then point the telescope up at the cosmos! You'll experience planets, nubulae and galaxies first-hand!
