Description:

Did you know that Black Rock City used to have a stop on the transcontinental railroad? That an extensive subway system once rolled beneath the Playa? That at one time you could ride a streetcar from Gate to the Temple?

None of that is true! But at the Black Rock City Museum of Transportation History, we explore the fictional story of fictional transportation in a fictional historical Black Rock City. Learn about how burners got around the Playa before bikes ruled and art cars amazed. See pictures, models, and artifacts gathered since Black Rock City's fictional founding nearly 150 years ago. Hear from a guide, or if we're not around, take a self-guided tour. Perhaps most importantly, tell us your own stories, or perhaps your grandmother's, about BRC's fictional transportation past!

We'll be open during the day (lunchtime to dinnertime) starting on Monday.

Our Burner "Black Tie" Gala takes place on Wednesday night at 9PM. Fancy wine, cheese, and more! Come find us on 9:00 near Isfahan behind the museum.
