Description:

Buzzinn to the dHive bar and delight in humankind’s original ambrosia! Mead is the oldest alcoholic beverage known to man & we aim to share with you how easy it is to make at home. A honey based wine, mead requires a very small investment on your part. The variations of style are endless as you can make mead with fruit, ciders, herbs, different kinds of honey, dry or sweet, (i.e. has remaining sugar), bubbly, (like sparkling wine), or still. We will explain how to make it, where to get it, and even have demo equipment available. 21+ and over can sample different varieties we've made and brought to share. You will come away with an understanding of: Early Discoveries of Mead, Mead in Religion and Culture, & the Techniques of Making Mead: -Overall concepts that mixing water, honey and yeast starts a reaction to convert the sugars in the honey to alcohol and release carbon dioxide gas. -The equipment needed such as a 1, 3 or 5 gallon water bottles, airlocks, tubes to siphon off the mead from the ‘lees,’ (sediment at the bottom of the fermentation container), bottles, and a few other items such as cleanser to keep everything clean. -Selections of honey to make mead and how the type of honey influences the end result flavor and the same for yeast selection. -Selections of ‘adjuncts’ which influence the flavor of your mead: the addition of spices such as cloves or cinnamon (known as metheglin), or the addition of fruits such as raspberries or strawberry (melomel). We will finish up with tasting different styles! Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
