Lamplighting and Sacred Ritual!

The Lamplighters are one of the longest-running moving art projects on the playa, and one of the many longstanding daily rituals of Black Rock City. Drawing from lamplighters of ancient cities, the Lamplighters gather volunteers from the city each night and maintain, light, and hang over 900 kerosene lamps in a procession that goes through the heart of Black Rock City.
