Description:

Buddhists “Take Refuge” in the Buddha, His Teachings, and Community; Burners take refuge in The Man, The Ten Principles, and the Burner Community. The Bardo Thodol/“Tibetan Book of the Dead” is a Buddhist guidebook through the death-and-rebirth process. It details what is envisioned and experienced by one making that transition, which continues well after Western medicine declares the physical body “dead.” The Man Burn is a parable of the process described in that guide. We’ll unfold the parable, discuss its relevance, and conclude with a suggested walking meditation for the eve of The Man Burn.
