Last year we experimented with bringing together many of BRC’s mobile food providers (many of whom, we’re proud to say, were born out of FtA’s 10 years of work on the playa) for a surprise deep playa food court. This year, in consultation (and collaboration) with many of our large sound camp neighbors, we intend to create a Temporary Autonomous Food Zone across 10:00 from the FtA camp EVERY NIGHT during burn week from midnight to roughly 3am. All mobile food providers will be invited to congregate and help us create the world’s first CAFEPLAYATORIUM! The 10th Street cafaplayatorium will be perched on the edge of 10th street looking outward towards the vast vistas available of the deep playa.
We’ve all become familiar with the multi-sound car dance parties that form every night around BRC. We’re bringing this concept to food and inviting all mobile food providers to help us create a place where people can come to relax, receive some nourishment, recover, engage in conversation, meet new friends, and continue on their way. Yes, there will also be music, but it will not be so loud that people can’t have conversations.
Citizens of Black Rock City will be welcomed with open arms, warm snacks and an invitation to experience the interactive cafaplayatorium. Only FtA and Burning Man can combine the cafeteria, playa and auditorium creating the experience that is The 10th Street Cafeplayatorium.
