Description:

Calling all women skaters, and women curious about skateboarding, for this evening evening celebration. All ages welcome! Sk8 gear provided: Sk8boards, helmets, pads and shoes. Let’s shred at the Burn together. GIRL POWER! Our Sk8 lessons will shred-ucate you. All skill levels welcome (girls). For first time skaters, instructors will teach proper standing, pushing, stopping, turning, and in some cases going down small ramps. We will have a blue wave runner sk8 tunnel for practicing your skating and surfing.

Sk8 Director James Pike has been teaching surfing and skating for 20 years in California, Oregon, Hawaii and Mexico. He has run and created programs for skate camps, with Parks & Recreation, in Santa Barbara and Scotts Valley, California. Pike’s attention to detail, combined with his love for sharing knowledge about skating, make this playa series a great place to learn. All instructors are trained and certified by Pike, to teach up to safety standards.

Skateboarding is very therapeutic and a great way to work out things with yourself. Pike’s Sk8 philosophy plays a huge role in learning to trust yourself and look at the bigger picture. Sk8 yoga is also a huge part of the lessons, and we will do some stretching in the beginning and afterwards to keep ourselves properly skateboarding to the best of our abilities.

When showing up to Sk8 Kamp, please sign in at the Sk8 Kiosk with the surfboard that says “Sk8Watch”. Look for skaters in t-shirts that say “Sk8Watch”.
