Description:

Corporation Chaos (7:45 & H) is a complexity science theme camp, home to the infamous "Ask a Philosopher" booth. This year we're hosting world-class experts on complex systems to give short (~20 min) lectures and moderate open discussion among participants. Disappointing drinks and light refreshments befitting an academic event will be available, but please be mindful of the department's budget shortfall.

We're please to announce our first-ever Philosophy Booth Participatory Debate on Scientific theories of Consciousness as part of Friday's lecture event. Tell all your sophist friends, it'll be a hoot!

Tentative Lecture Schedule:

Sunday: “Phase Transitions” (Dan)

Monday: "One Is Not Born But Becomes a Bureaucracy" (Anna)

Tuesday: “Can Emergence Explain Free Will?” (Erik)

Wednesday: “The Search for a Scientific Theory of Consciousness: a brief history” (Erik)

Thursday: "How to Survive an Alien Apocalypse: A Guide to Pirate Prostitution" (Priti Uggleigh)

Friday: Participatory Debate: “Scientific Theories of Consciousness: Promises and Problems” (Dan and Erik moderate)

Saturday: "Lightning in a Bottle" (Jon )
