Date and Time:

Type:
Class/Workshop
Location:
Black Rock Observatory Theme Camp

Description:

Humanity’s first mission to our star, the Sun, left our Earth just over a year ago on a hot August night in a burst of flame. How can you send a robot to the Sun, and is it really all that different from making art for the Playa? What is the Sun anyway? Why is it so hot, and can it be trusted? Can we have Life on Mars? Dr. Phyllis Whittlesey will attempt to answer all of these questions as she describes her experience making a spaceship that is hotter, faster, and closer to the sun than ever before.
