Community Grief Yoga:
A blend of Trauma Informed Yoga and Grief Yoga, this tradition yoga practice is organized for a modern chaos. We will grieve and release the compounded trauma of a culture of apathy which is causing mass environmental and social degradation.
We resist. We take to the streets. We call out with our voices that these injustices will not stand. We are angry.
Yet beneath that anger is deep pain, sadness. From our conscious sadness and our awareness of the feeling deep in our bodies we gain strength. As we observe and allow our emotions to move through us we are able to harness the depth of pain and transform it into power. For if we did not feel so deeply we would stand aside and let them destroy the balance of life on our Mother Earth. We can not let the constant bombardment of cultural trauma numb us to inaction.
In this practice we ebb and flow. We move through body awareness and centering practices, pranayama, grief, asana with longer holds and rests, even a bit of dance. We end the class with a little hugging lesson, and if people are open practice reconnecting to others outside ourselves through motherly touch of gentle, compassionate hugging. This is of corse followed by sivasana.
