Love word games? So do we! We get great joy from our daily word game rituals and know many other Burners do too. So we decided to bring a brand-new project to the playa this year! Fueled by our own passions for crosswords and other word games, and further buoyed by the swell of interest in these games due to the pandemic (Wordle anyone?), we are creating a space in Black Rock City entirely dedicated to word games.
Word Play Cafe is the place on playa for word game lovers to gather, play and learn (solo or with others). Stop by in the morning for drip coffee and our featured daily crossword. Visit during any open hours to try your hand at one of our crosswords at all levels or to choose from our “menu” of popular, vintage, and custom word games. Bring your kids! We have games and puzzles for them too. Throughout the week we will feature events like solving competitions and panel discussions about creating and solving word games. Before you leave, try one of the custom games we created Burning Man!
