Description:

Speaker: Dr. Nathaniel Peters
Day & Time: Monday, 5:30pm

Overview: As humans in a macro world, we typically consider our universe macroscopically; modern astronomy is an extension of that perspective. However, if we turn our lens around, towards and into the microscopic, a whole new and exciting universe unfolds. In this presentation, Dr Peters will introduce us to some of the newest technological advances in light microscopy that modern scientists now use to probe the finest workings of cells and the molecules and processes within them.

Bio: Dr. Nathaniel Peters is a cell biologist and microscopist at the University of Washington, where he manages the Keck Microscopy Center and trains scientists to use powerful, 3D-scanning, light microscopes. In his spare time, Dr. Peters is an avid birder and gardener and often transforms into Pan for Seattle art, dance, and music events.
