Help

The Black Rock City experience is impossible to comprehend, and it is even less possible to capture what is happening at every given moment. Over the course of many years, the WhatWhereWhen guide and mobile apps created by the Burning Man community have helped to start many adventures, converged thousands of people in parades, grilled cheese sandwich dance-offs, sunrise meditations, and many indescribable happenings.

Playa Events will open for event submissions at noon Pacific time on Wednesday, June 18.
The events submitted before noon Pacific time on Wednesday, June 25 will be exported to be considered for the WhatWhereWhen guide. After that, events submitted will be included in the Playa Events Calendar and the API for third-party apps, but will not make the print WhatWhereWhen deadline.

The submission form will close at noon on August 15, 2025.

All events approved by moderators will be listed here on the Playa Events website and in the apps created by the Burning Man community.

WhatWhereWhen guides are available at the Greeters Station as you enter Black Rock City.

Title is limited to 40 characters long (previously 50).

Description is limited to 80 characters long (previously 120).

As a result of having shorter submissions this year, the WhatWhereWhen guide will fit about twice as many events as in the years prior.

You can submit as many events as you want, one at a time.

You can select between one-time and recurring events.

Title is limited to 40 characters long.

Description is limited to 80 characters long.

Event duration is limited to 12 hours at camps, and 3 hours at art installations.

Please read the content guidelines.

The event submission form is preloaded with the most recent list of all placed camps and art installations. The exact locations of placed camps are not public until the gate opens. Please don’t add your location in the event description —, it will be added to the book automatically, or will be visible in the smartphone apps at the event.

Select the name of your placed camp or art installation from the drop-down menu. If you are using a different location, like The Man, Center Camp, “trash fence,” use "Other" location option and write it in. The Temple is listed under Art Installations.

You will be offered a selection of categories. Select the best fit, but don’t stress about it — an event at Black Rock City is never just one thing!

Submit your events in order of priority, with your top choice listed first for inclusion in the book. It helps us feature what’s most important to you!

Check your email for any communications from the moderators in case your listing was rejected or moderators requested an edit.

You can edit your listings. If resubmitted, they will be reviewed by the moderators again. Please check your inbox until all your listings and edits are accepted.

Please do not use emojis, special characters (&@%, #, etc.), ALL CAPS, or excessive punctuation (!!!)

All events are checked and approved by moderators. There is a chance your listing may be rejected, in which case you will receive an email, and you will be able to edit and resubmit a listing. You will not lose your chance of being in the WhatWhereWhen guide if you submit all final edits before noon on Wednesday, June 25.

Moderators edit the events at their own discretion, as this is more efficient than rejecting and resubmitting them. However, most events are published as-is. After the event is published, open the link and read the description.

Be creative! Be descriptive! We want you to find your people and make Burning Man what it is. Only a small number of submissions are rejected.

Please review the guidelines below for content we’re looking out for in submissions:

Names of business entities, including nonprofits. Examples: yoga studios, meditation centers, performance collectives, or dojos.

Names of living professional performers, artists, DJs, authors, coaches, or wellness practitioners. We verify using public sources. If we can quickly find booking info, a business Instagram, or a Bandcamp page, your listing will be edited or rejected.

Direct promotional listings. For example, “Ellie May plays her newly released album” will not be accepted. However, themed events like “Frank Sinatra Sing-Along” or “David Bowie Listening Party” are great!

Offers of goods or services for sale or in exchange for value. Example: e-bike rentals.

Offensive language or content meant to harm or target individuals or groups.

Consumer brand names. Example: naming specific brands of beer or whiskey in an event listing.

Note: Events intended for mature audiences are welcome — we have a dedicated category for those.
