Description:

Let's have a heart felt community conversation to reflect on our actions. To examine how to work towards right relationship with cultural traditions that aren't of our personal ancestry.

• Adornments and Healing Arts? Rituals & Spiritual Practices? Permaculture & Herbal Medicine? By engaging openly with sacred cultural traditions, are we unknowingly re-colonizing and harming oppressed people and cultures? (Cultural Appropriation).

• Do we know the true history of these traditions and peoples? Are they being oppressed? Are we benefiting? What questions can we ask ourselves? What can we do?

• What does it mean to decolonize ourselves and why is it important to talk about it?

• What hole are we seeking to fill? What is it about mainstream consumerist culture and our own histories of immigration, assimilation, and struggle that leave us seeking connection and wisdom from indigenous cultures?

Let’s reflect deeply from a place of love. Let's ask ourselves and each other these questions. Let's learn from the many resources available and talk about these complex issues that affect us all. Isn't it our shared responsibility to move towards right relationship for peace and freedom for all beings. Let's have these conversations ongoing, on and off the playa. Would love to see you!
