Description:
Making drinking plans for your camp? Do those plans include lots and lots of aluminum cans? Want to unload all those empty cans on playa while also helping the kids of Gerlach?
Well then come on down to Recycle Camp and SHOW US YOUR CANS! At Recycle Camp we will take all of your aluminum cans of your hands as part of our gift to the playa. We are located directly behind the Center Camp Café on 6:00 and are open every day 9am to 5pm. Please no drop offs: participate! When you get there, we will help you quickly separate your cans before riding THE CRUSHINATOR, our magical bicycle-powered can crushing apparatus that crushes your cans flat so we can store as many as possible before scrapping the aluminum off-site. All of the money we generate from aluminum recycling is donated directly to the Gerlach school system. Everybody wins!
We can only accept ALUMINUM cans. Please no glass, plastic, steel, or tin cans, so please keep all of your water bottles, tetrapaks, soup cans, and coconut waters separated. A good rule of thumb for figuring out if something is aluminum: if you can't crush it by hand, then we don't want it! Some stout beers like Guinness also have a plastic widget inside that cannot be recycled with the aluminum, please remove it beforehand or we can show you how.
PROTIP from the Recyclenaut Aluminati: bring a MESH bag to collect all of your cans in. Plastic garbage bags don't allow your cans to dry out and create a foul, sticky sludge. If you store them in a mesh bag before bringing them over to Recycle Camp it helps make things a little less juicy for you when we they get sorted and crushed. Be smart, plan ahead, Recycle Camp wants YOU to come CRUSH it with us!!!
