Description:

Square and barn dancing to live music (traditional/ oldtime /bluegrass /American). Fast-paced and exciting yet easy to learn. No experience necessary nor do you need to arrive with a partner. A caller walks the dancers through each dance before the music starts (with the dances lasting about 15 minutes). Each dance is a (different) repeating sequence of relatively simple moves. Hooting and stomping and a tribal vibe, where the Zen is playfulness, flow, synchrony, and bonding (not footwork, not competition). If you are smiling, you are doing it right. Kid friendly. Possible for many disabled. Everyone who shows up should have a good time. Videos at the website. You can square dance all over the US (and a smattering of other countries) in dance halls with up to a thousand people. But the Playa makes it special so you should try it with us first!
