Description:

In this workshop, we’ll explore the history and science underlying the use of cacao as a "plant medicine" and “party drug,” from the jungles of Central America to the European rave scene. Originally named by Carl Linnaeus as Theobroma cacao — literally translating to “food of the gods” — cacao has been used for over 4,000 years in ritual & celebratory contexts. We’ll spend some time going over cacao’s ethnobotanical history, and discuss the experiential & pharmacological differences between cacao and other ceremonial teacher plants like ayahuasca and “magic" mushrooms.
